Mississippi Gulf Coast Hotels: Where to Stay in Coastal Mississippi
US Gulf Coast Travel tip: When making reservations at Coastal Mississippi hotels or calling them for details, mention US Gulf Coast Travel and McCool Travel sent you for possible special rates and consideration.
Where to Stay in Bay St Louis
Bay Town Inn
Thoughtful snacks and drinks greet guests in the individually decorated rooms at Bay Town Inn B&B in Bay St. Louis. I have stayed in the flamingo and sea turtle rooms but hope to stay in pelican, star fish, and sand dollar themed rooms on future Mississippi Gulf Coast visits.
Please see my video tour of a Bay Town Inn room and our photo of the Bay Town Inn pool area.
Bay Town Inn is a favorite place to stay for New Orleans residents taking weekend and vacation trips. See why! I suggest trying an elegant scratch breakfast at Mockingbird Cafe or the spicy shrimp and grits at The Sycamore House. Those are two of our favorite Mississippi Gulf Coast Restaurants.
US Gulf Coast Travel tip: walk along the waterfront for a nice sunrise or sunset and look at the carvings in the oak trees. Be sure to visit Ruth’s Roots for some Coastal Mississippi funkiness.

Buccaneer State Park, Waveland
Head six miles southwest from Bay Town Inn and check out the relaxed glamping experience at Buccaneer State Park in Waveland MS. Let Tentrr set up a fun and memorable camping excursion for you.
All you have to bring is a cover sheet and your toothbrush. Tentrr provides the canvas tent on a sturdy platform, a full size camper cot with mattress (and matter cover), two basic bedside tables, two Adirondack chairs, propane heater, picnic table, and storage.
US Gulf Coast Travel tip: the Tentrr sites in Buccaneer State Park are in the primitive section of the campground, secluded from the other campground loops. It is a wonderful spot for sunrise (the bayou is right behind) and star gazing.
US Gulf Coast Travel note: two Tentrr sites here have one tent, one site has two tents (great for a family or two couples), and another site is ADA compliant.

For those coolish winter, spring, and fall nights, I love the merino wool layers from Isobaa. On the night I camped here, I wore their cable sweater to dinner and then around the campsite until I went to sleep.
Where to Stay in Pass Christian
Hotel Pass Christian

Across the street from Bacchus on the Beach and overlooking quaint Pass Christian Harbor, Hotel Pass Christian is a fun place to stay. At this 10 room boutique property opt for one of the four oversized king suites with wet bars and private patios. While in The Pass, visit the super cute Pass Christian Books/Cat Island Coffeehouse and order some amazing oysters and steak at Whiskey Prime, on the ground floor of the Hotel Whiskey.
US Gulf Coast Travel tip: Nearby Henderson Point is a prime viewing spot for magnificent Mississippi coast sunsets.

Where to Stay in Gulfport MS
Grand Centennial Hotel
The newest Coastal Mississippi hotel (opened August 2019) is Grand Centennial Hotel (a wonderful #USGulfCoast relaxed luxury hotel) in Centennial Plaza in Gulfport Mississippi. Check out my Grand Centennial Hotel room video tour from October 2019.
Hotels in Biloxi MS
Margaritaville Resort Biloxi
Among the mega resort properties along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Margaritaville Resort Biloxi is the only one without a casino. Margaritaville definitely has a family-friendly vibe, along with that 5 O’clock Somewhere and license to chill attitude.
Watch my video tour of a Margaritaville Resort Biloxi room and my dedicated article Margaritaville Resort Biloxi: Fun Lodging Along the Mississippi Coast.
Beau Rivage Resort & Casino Biloxi
Owned by MGM, Beau Rivage Biloxi is much more than a casino resort. Relax in The Spa. Watch beautiful sunrises and sunsets from the upper floors. The biggest entertainers appearing along the Mississippi coast will play in the Beau Rivage theatre. I do not personally like the name of their golf course, Fallen Oak (I LOVE oaks), but it is the #1 rated golf course in Mississippi.
See our article about Ways to Have Fun at Beau Rivage Biloxi.
DoubleTree Biloxi
Across the street from Biloxi Beach and The Loop, DoubleTree Biloxi is a short walking distance to downtown Biloxi, Beau Rivage, and MGM Park. I recently stayed in a room on the top floor facing the gulf and enjoyed peeks of a gorgeous #MSCoastLife sunrise.

Where to Stay in Ocean Springs

The Roost
Architectural Digest named The Roost Ocean Springs a “beach-chic boutique” and one of the most beautiful hotels in the southern US.
The Roost is only a couple of blocks from the funky shops and eclectic eateries of downtown Ocean Springs.

The Inn at Ocean Springs
The Inn at Ocean Springs is an elegant two suite property in the heart of downtown Ocean Springs.

Please see this video tour of an Inn at Ocean Springs suite.
Gulf Hills Hotel & Resort
The King—Elvis Presley—stayed in the Love Me Tender, Love Me Suite at Gulf Hills Hotel & Resort for several consecutive and entire summers in the 1950s. And now you can also! The suite has three bedrooms, four bathrooms, 2,000 sq. ft of space, and vintage decor and memorabilia—and is perfect for you and your entourage.

Here is my video of the Love Me Tender, Love Me Suites at Gulf Hills Hotel in Ocean Springs, Mississippi:
The VIP Suite is a mere two bedrooms and two bathrooms, with 1,000 sq. ft. of space, and is perfect for your security detail.
For smaller entourages or maybe just a vacationing couple, Gulf Hills also has 52 hotel rooms.
Elvis Presley fans would also love the Collette tour of America’s Music Cities, which visits Graceland and stays at the Guest House at Graceland.
Front Beach Cottages
For your next Ocean Springs getaway, check out the hidden gem Front Beach Cottages. Four adorable cottages sit walking or biking distance from the gorgeous downtown Ocean Springs and the wonderful Front Beach.
Front Beach Cottages also provides kayaks, wagons, and games for guest use. For some excellent Coastal Mississippi kayak ideas see our Complete Guide to Kayaking in Mississippi on the Gulf Coast.

Where to Stay in Pascagoula
The Grand Magnolia Ballroom & Suites
There are seven rooms available in the main house of the historic Grand Magnolia Ballroom & Suites (built in 1894). The adjacent ballroom hosts weddings and events for up to 600 persons. Stay in The Little Gem, as I did, where Jimmy Buffett hung out before his latest local concert in Pascagoula—to commemorate the renaming of the town beach to Buffett Beach. Richard Chenoweth, the Grand Magnolia owner, also operates the nearby downtown Pascagoula restaurant and catering company Scranton’s.

Please watch this video tour of The Little Gem room at Grand Magnolia.

The Roost strikes me as the most interesting of the bunch and that view from the Beau Rivage is amazing! I’d also like to stay in that Elvis Presley suite at the Gulf Hills Hotel just because: Elvis!
Oh, The Roost is a magnificent property. Go for it. You will be pleasantly surprised by their rates.

Glad to hear it. MS Gulf Coast is a most lovely part of the world and I hope you enjoy your trip.
I’ve never been to the Mississippi Gulf Coast so thanks for the future travel inspiration. But where should I start with all of these great lodging options? The Roost in Ocean Springs sounds good to me — I especially like the Architectural Digest recommendation for it.
As I sit here in -17C weather in Manitoba, Canada, looking at these amazing travel options along the Mississippi coast is truly an inviting option! Thx for sharing, Charles, and all the best to you in 2019.
This is perfect timing for an article, as we are contemplating a visit to the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Thanks for this overview of potential lodging options.
When are you visiting? Perhaps I will meet you there.
Looks like I have a lot of charming choices when I hit the Gulf Coast again this year. Our road trip last year took us right by and yet I didn’t allow enough time for much Mississippi – clearly that needs to change!
Hey, if you visit, let me know. I will meet you there!
Looks like a beautiful area of the country Charles. Mississippi has long been on my list.
