South Seas Resort Restaurants

A plethora of culinary options tempt resort guests. From the relaxed upscale setting of The Pointe to the Crooked Snook Tiki Bar, you can always find something to satisfy your hunger. When on the US Gulf Coast, I prefer blackened grouper and it was perfect atop the Asian salad at Harbourside Bar & Grill.

Fun Things to Do at South Seas Resort

A favorite thing about staying at a Florida beach resort is that it is easy to relax. Comfortable outdoor spaces and glorious waterfront views encourage us to slow down, take a seat, and soak up the peace and quiet. Definitely make time for the Gulf Coast sunsets every night.

South Seas Resort has a lovely sunset tradition for guests. Arrive at the beach a little before sunset to find a shell, or take one from the basket resort worker’s carry. At the signal, toss your shell into the waves and make a wish.

Fun on the Water

Active visitors will also find plenty of fun things to do at the resort. There are numerous opportunities to enjoy the waters of the Gulf of Mexico, San Carlos Bay, Redfish Pass, and Pine Island Sound.

  • Fishing is a favorite activity throughout Southwest Florida. Cast your line from the shore, join a charter, rent or bring a boat, and enjoy a memorable US Gulf Coast experience. South Seas experts teach fishing skills and Ships Store sells bait and fishing supplies.
  • Go on a dolphin watching, sunset, or exploration sailing with Captiva Cruises. McCool Travel tip: we loved the Cabbage Key cruise where we savored the original recipe for key lime pie.
  • Enjoy several water activities with Sunny Island Adventures on the South Seas Resort grounds. Through Sunny Island, rent a WaveRunner, kayak, or paddleboard, join one of their tours, or let them take you parasailing high above the Gulf water.
  • Take a sailing class with Offshore Sailing School.
  • Look for manatees in the water in the two marinas.

Spa, Tennis, Golf, and Fitness

The 330 acre nature preserve is an ideal playground for exploration and fitness—for adventurers of all ages. Experience world class shelling in the early morning, then hone your backhand at the Blackwood Tennis Academy, pedal your bike (or ride your golf cart) to lunch, before checking into your me time appointment at the Kay Casperson spa. That sounds like such a fun day that it is worth doing every day of your South Seas Resort stay!

Take a fun golf car ride around the resort. You can even ride your cart to nearby restaurants in downtown Captiva.
