August on the Gulf Coast is often the hottest month of the year and an excellent time to cool off with a Gulf Coast kayak paddle or other water adventure. Thank goodness we have those sugar sand beaches that do not scorch your feet. But when you decide to head indoors, enjoy your favorite craft brewery or museum.
August on the US Gulf Coast often means an influx of in-state visitors escaping the heat in the state’s interior. Be nice to them and show them our incredible US Gulf Coast friendly hospitality.

Tampa International Fringe Festival, July 28 – August 7, 2022
For two weeks, Ybor City hosts comedy, burlesque, storytelling, drama, and other fringe performances. Tampa Fringe promotes inclusivity, allows for creative freedom, and gives 100% of the base ticket price to artists.

Annual Professional Rodeo, Foley, AL, August 4-6, 2022
Supporting the Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation to support teenage mental health, the Annual Professional Rodeo is only 13 miles away from Gulf State Park and the gorgeous Alabama Beaches. Check out children’s activities starting at 6pm followed by the rodeo events starting at 8pm each night.

An American in Paris, Clear Lake, TX, August 5-7 and 12-14, 2022
Bay Area Houston Ballet & Theatre presents George Gershwin’s An American in Paris at the Bayou Theater at University of Houston-Clear Lake. The Bayou Theater is only eight miles from Kemah Boardwalk and League City Texas.

Sunshine State Games, Panama City Beach, FL, August 12-14, 2022
Participate or watch the Sunshine State Games in PCB, featuring Olympic caliber competition in several beach games—including beach soccer, beach volleyball, beach tennis, and Highland games.

Girl Scouts Love Sea Turtles, Gulfport, MS, August 13, 2022
Exclusively for Girl Scouts, this adventure at the Mississippi Aquarium includes an organized beach cleanup (because we all love the Gulf Coast), sea turtle crafts (to take home), and lessons about sea turtle biology, conservation, and research. Each participant will earn a Girl Scouts Love Sea Turtles badge.

Pro Watercross Tour, Lake Charles, LA, August 20-21, 2022
The Liqui Moly PWX National Championships event of the Pro Watercross Tour comes to Lake Charles at North Beach. This is the last official event before the world championship in October in Naples, Florida and participants will compete for double points.

Swing Out of Summer Golf Tournament, Sanibel, FL, August 26, 2022
Head onto Sanibel Island to Dunes Golf and Tennis Club for the annual Swing Out of Summer event. Registration includes lunch and an 18 hole round. There will also be swag bags, a raffle, a silent auction, and, oh, a car will be awarded to the person who makes the first hole in one (fore!).
